ADVENTURE AQUARIUM TO DEBUT “THE BOARDWALK,” A SHORE-INSPIRED EXPERIENCE -- OPENING MARCH 28

CAMDEN, N.J. (March 20, 2026) – Adventure Aquarium is bringing a beloved regional tradition 
inland with the debut of The Boardwalk, a new area of the Aquarium that celebrates the sights, 
sounds and nostalgia of the iconic Mid-Atlantic coastline. Designed as a playful homage to the 
shores of New Jersey, Delaware, and beyond, The Boardwalk will be a newly activated, immersive 
space at the Aquarium inspired by a day at the Shore.

The Boardwalk adds a vibrant new layer to the Aquarium’s existing world-class attractions. At the 
heart of the experience is the introduction of “Horseshoe Crab Harbor,” Adventure Aquarium’s 
fourth touch exhibit, where guests will have the opportunity to gently interact with one of the 
region’s most notable native species. Consistent with the Aquarium’s commitment to education 
and preservation, Horseshoe Crab Harbor will give guests personal interaction with this
prehistoric species that is critical to the Delaware Bay and Atlantic coastal ecosystems.

“One of the most exciting parts of our mission is educating guests on the incredible animals that 
are found in our own backyard,” said Nikki Grandinetti, General Curator at Adventure Aquarium. 
“Horseshoe Crabs have been on Earth for over 400 million years, long before the dinosaurs, and 
they remain a vital part of our coastal environments today. We’re proud to shine a spotlight on 
this remarkable species that lives right here in our home state.”

The Boardwalk will also include a variety of seaside-style attractions for guests of all ages, 
including face painting, caricature artists, a picturesque beachfront mural and photo zone, 
educational meet-and-greets with Adventure Aquarium’s resident animals, and an ocean-themed virtual reality experience. 

To fully immerse guests in the experience of visiting “The Shore, Indoors,” The Boardwalk design 
elements include boardwalk plank and sand-inspired flooring, depictions of kites gliding
overhead, lifeguard-style seating for Aquarium staff, and cabana-themed installations.
The Boardwalk will officially open to the public on March 28, 2026, and is included with Aquarium
