The sand tiger shark is a large, slow-moving shark notable for its menacing, needle-like teeth. Despite their scary appearance, sand tigers are relatively peaceful sharks. The sand tiger shark prefers to hunt close to shore, where groups have been observed hunting large schools of fish. It can adjust its buoyancy by gulping a mouthful of air and storing it in its stomach, making it one of the few large sharks that occasionally sit still on the bottom of the ocean.
