"What do you give a 12 year old for his birthday that is not another video game? I know we’ll go Swim with the Sharks. There can’t be any thing to worry about…right? To celebrate my son Evan’s birthday, we scheduled a Swim with the Sharks at the Adventure Aquarium. Yes, my heart was coming out of my chest wondering what I was thinking when I signed us up as potential shark chum. Turns out, my biggest fear was the visual of me in a wet suite. Suddenly I became an exhibit. The experience was amazing. With the theme song of Jaws swirling in my head, I was in awe of what was before me. Nothing can match the thrill of looking eye to eye with such a grand creature. In addition, the Stingray Lagoon was equally wonderful with the stingrays behaving like puppies looking for attention. I highly recommend to anyone at any age to take advantage of this experience of a lifetime. I’m planning a return swim and this time I’m bringing the entire family. So you think you’ve got guts? Well, come on down and go for a swim in our Shark Realm. Our cast will brief you on what to expect, teach you about the animals you will encounter and give you a quick snorkeling lesson. Once you’ve gotten your nerves under control, you’ll enter the Shark Realm where you’ll come within inches of sand tiger sharks, sandbar sharks, nurse sharks and barracuda. Once you’ve gone around the perimeter of the Shark Realm, you’ll enter the Stingray Lagoon where you can swim with and feed dozens of stingrays. You can even have your picture taken to prove to everyone that you actually did it. In addition, you’ll receive admission to the Aquarium, an adventure t-shirt, souvenir snorkel and mask, and memories to last a lifetime. (All gear except bathing suits, towels, water shoes and toiletries will be provided.)
